Around Our Community

The launch of the Sunset Ridge Farmers Market at Charis Park this past weekend was a dream come true!  The park was buzzing with neighbors connecting with local farmers and ranchers, enjoying yoga with Nyx Wellness, Storytime with Miss Anastasia, and live music.  Many vendors sold out, which is exactly what we’d hoped for, but this success needs our support to grow!  By shopping weekly, we can help sustain these farmers and ranchers and keep the market thriving. You can even reserve goods like eggs and meat ahead of time, ensuring your favorite items are ready for you each week.  Check out our vendor list to place your order.

We can’t wait to see you again Saturday!

Camelot Christmas

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our Camelot Christmas meeting this past Sunday.  We are so excited for this special way that we get to support families in our community at Christmas.  Please be on the lookout for an email containing volunteer needs and the big gift list!  Your support makes it possible for us to continue this special tradition each year.

The Pace Of Presence

Jess Lowry, Executive Director, Sunset Ridge Collective

I was sitting in the park taking a deep breath under one of the oak trees, awaiting the arrival of my daughter and the rest of the girls for our Wednesday night Bible Study.  I saw a person walking up the hill and while I couldn’t see their face, I knew who they were by their walk.

It was the slow and steady pace of presence that I see around our campus daily.

The one that moves at the pace of small legs and curious bodies.

Ms.Linda from Sprouts School was walking up the hill, and while she was alone, I noted that her pace was the same.

I have never once seen Linda rushed, never buzzing about through the hallways or across the street or running up (or down) the steps two at a time like I do.

Her pace is slow, if you see her she makes eye contact, her presence is soothing.

As I watch Linda walk I think of the pace of Jesus.  How he moved in the world at the pace of presence.  As Scott said on a recent Sunday, Jesus was always on purpose but never in a hurry.  He noticed people, like blind Bartimeaus from our story a couple of weeks ago, he was willing to be slowed and willing to be stopped.

We are slowly moving into a new season.  One that invites us to cool mornings, falling leaves, cozy smells and tastes, and gratitude.

I’ve read recently that the key to gratitude is in the specificity–noticing the unique and special details about the object of our appreciation.  It is at the pace of presence that we can begin to notice, the way Ms. Linda invites the small children to look about the world with wonder and awe.

I invite you this week to join me in moving at a slower pace and looking at the world and the people in it with gratitude and presence.  I can’t wait to see what you find.

Love - Jess

Message from our children’s ministry team

In the two months since we started our new Roots classes for children, we have gained many more new faces!  Because of this rapid growth, our team is making changes in order to best to meet our kids' needs and create spaces where they can engage meaningfully with God.  We are looking for additional volunteers to support our kids in their spiritual growth.  Please use this link to volunteer once a month in one of our classes, and view other volunteer opportunities

We are actively searching for a Family Minister and ask for your prayers for this process.  We are confident in God’s provision for this important role.
