Sunset Ridge is a church that desires to follow Jesus, reach people, and radiate God’s love and hope to all.

A Time for Silence.

As you may have seen in Goodness Weekly on Monday, we want to acknowledge what so many in our community are carrying right now. The losses from flooding accumulating for our neighbors in Kerr County, and those directly affected in our own communities, are ever present in so many of our minds. Many of us have been recipients of well meaning words, prayers, Scriptures, etc. that hurt in our grief more than they help.

If you need a quiet place to be, our Chapel will be open daily from 9 AM - 5 PM.

Here are a few ways that we can help.
We invite you to share with us as well.

A green ribbon tied around a tree by Charis park to honor all who have been lost.

On Sunday, Jess offered this prayer:

“As we’ve been praying over the last few days, these words from a writing found during the Holocaust that was turned into a song keep coming to mind:

‘I believe in the sun, even when it's not shining.
I believe in love, even when I cannot feel it.
I believe in God, even when God is silent.’

Lord, there are no words today, only grief, and uncertainty and fear. There's only devastation, darkness, and so many questions.

Because God, we want somebody to point to. We want a finger to be able to point at and say, ‘This is why this happened.’ And the only one we can point at today is you. And we know that you can handle it.

So as we enter into this time of prayer, or confusion, or yelling, we're going to come to you with our full selves, and we're not going to hold anything back. And we're going to trust. That you are always, always right here, even when you are seemingly silent.

We cry out in the name of Jesus Christ, for the return of every missing person, for the restoration of all the brokenness, and the courage to stand when others can't.”

We invite you to:

Sit in the grief. Let your heart break open. Don’t rush to mend what is meant to be mourned.
Be honest. Say what is true for you, even if it’s raw or unfinished. God is not afraid of your voice.
Be a light, where and when you can. Maybe that means checking in on someone, or simply lighting a candle and praying for the names you’ve heard.

You don’t have to be okay to be connected.
We are here with you to be present.
