“A Song for the Wilderness”

Riley Stirman

Preparing for the sermon this week - about how God is still God regardless of how formidable the desert appears - made me think repeatedly of the song Lay It All Down by United Pursuit. I’d invite you to listen to it and dwell on what your wilderness wandering looks like. As you do, consider what needs laying down at the feet of Jesus. Remember that he goes before and behind us, even in the desert.

“Bring your worry, grief, and pain

Every cause you have for shame

Lay it all down

Lay it all down

When your cares have buried you

And there's nothing left to do

Lay it all down

Lay it all down

At the feet of Jesus

At the feet of Jesus

Carried on but your heart was tired

Feared the worst and felt the fire

Lay it all down

Lay it all down

Filled with all those anxious thoughts

And your doubts became your god

Lay it all down

Lay it all down

At the feet of Jesus

At the feet of Jesus”

Requests for Prayer

Geraldine Kiser’s daughter, Ellen Kiser, is still awaiting a biopsy, then surgery.

Elaine Thorne is out of the hospital and has returned to Franklin Park Memory Care.

God, we gather in gratitude, thankful for the ways you seek to revive us! Let the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts work together to praise you in this hour. Grant your Spirit to move our hearts and inspire each of us to share your steadfast love with all whom we encounter. Help us to join in giving only what is good, not only today, but every day.  Amen
